Published November 22, 2019

Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has allowed repayment of customs duty drawback on the import of raw material/input used in the export of multilayered liquid food packaging from November 19, 2019.

The FBR has amended standard duty drawback notification (SRO 212(I)/2009) through a notification SRO 1405(I)/2019 issued here on Thursday.

Under the FBR's standard duty drawback notification SRO 212(I)/2009, the FBR has authorised repayment of customs duties paid on the importation of the raw materials used in the production or manufacture of the goods and exports during the period specified. This is subject to the fulfilment of laid down conditions.

Firstly, the manufactured goods are exported out of Pakistan and an application for repayment of customs duties is presented to the proper officer of Customs within 210 days of such exportation or within 180 days from the date of realisation of foreign exchange as shown on Bank Credit Advice issued in accordance with the current directive of the State Bank of Pakistan.

Secondly, the exporter makes a declaration on the goods declaration filed under section 131 of the Customs Act, 1969 and on other export documents for his claim for repayment of the customs duties paid on the imported raw materials used in the production or manufacture of the goods being exported.

According to SRO 1405(I)/2019, the extent of repayment of customs duties is 7.46 percent of the freight on board (FOB) value on the export of multilayered liquid food packaging aseptic paper packs printed in reels (up to 250ml sizes) from November 19, 2019.
