Three booked for taking delivery of goods on 'fake documents'
Model Customs Collectorate (MCC), Appraisement, East has lodged an FIR against one of the containers yards for releasing auction goods on fake and forged documents.
According to an FIR, the accused persons Muhammad Zaki, Adeel Ahmed and Meer Rizwan with active connivance of the staff and management of one of the containers yards took delivery of auction goods on fake documents without completion of legal proceedings.
The illegal delivery was given by the said containers yards to these accused persons on bogus auction documents including fake delivery order, bank challans and certificate. The value of illegally removed auction goods is Rs 12.13 million involving duty and taxes of Rs 4.001 million.
During initial course of investigation, it was revealed the accused person namely Muhammad Zaki approached the aforesaid containers yard with forged auction documents for delivery. The management of the containers yard delivered auction goods on these fake documents to the accused persons Meer Rizwan. The accused Muhammad Zaki was arrested and on his pointing, another associate namely Usama Tahir also detained.
The FIR further stated that accused Zaki admitted that he planned this crime with a person namely accused Adeel, who promised to dispose of these goods in the market and share purchase proceeds with him besides financing initial expenditure like preparation of fabricated documents and transportation of illegally removed auction goods.
Furthermore, it said that all accused persons including staff of the said containers yard constituted offence within the meaning of section 32A and section 192 of the Customs Act, 2969 punishable under clause 14A, 77 (I) and 86 of the section 156(I) of the act read with relevant laws. Further investigation is in progress.
