Interior Sindh's hospitals: No treatment facilities available for cancer patients, SHC told
The treatment facilities for cancer patients are not available in the hospitals of interior Sindh, Sindh High Court was informed Friday. According to a report of Secretary Health Sindh submitted in the court in a petition pertaining to oral cancer caused by chewing gutka and mainpuri, the treatment of cancer disease in the hospitals of Larkana is also unavailable.
Report stated that 489 patients of cancer brought in Larkana Civil Hospital last year, of which five were diagnosed with oral cancer. In the hospitals in Khairpur districts, no treatment facilities are available for the cancer patients. In 2018, no patient of cancer was brought in GMCC Sukkur hospital.
In Jinnah Hospital Karachi, 37900 canter patients were admitted, of which 2213 were infected with oral cancer in 2018. In Biatul Sakoon Hospital Karachi, a total of 2816 patients of cancer were brought in 2018, of which 231 were oral cancer patients. Out of 270 patients brought in Rahat Kadda Hospital Karachi, 60 patients were diagnosed with oral patient.
Out of 5247 cancer patients admitted in Kiran Hospital Karachi, 102 patients were infected with oral cancer. In Dr. Ziauddin Hospital and Agha Khan Hospital, 352 and 568 oral cancer patients were brought. In Civil Hospital Karachi, 202 oral cancer patients out of 15889 patients were admitted. As many as 138 and 72 oral cancer patients were brought to Lyari Hospital and Liaquat National Hospital.
