Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday reserved the judgment on the bail pleas of Agha Siraj Durrani, Speaker Sindh Assembly and others in "assets beyond means" case. The SHC bench headed by Justice Omar Sial reserved the decision after Siraj Durrani, his brother Agha Masihuddin and others moved the court for bail in the case involving allegedly amassing illegal Rs1.61 billion assets.
During the hearing, investigation officer of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) contended that if Durrani and his brother would have inherited these assets, it would have been transferred in their name.
Justice Sial observed that many accounts didn't transfer in inherited assets and said what should have been done and what not is entirely a different debate. The court also showed dissatisfaction over the investigation of NAB in this case and said that it reprimanded NAB for its own betterment. The court ruled that respect of citizens is important to the court and they should not be ridiculed during the course of investigations.
