Appointment of judges: Parliamentary body seeks tax details
The parliamentary committee on appointment of judges has directed Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to furnish the income tax and returns details of nominees recommended by Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) for their appointments as additional judges in Islamabad High Court (IHC) by November 28, 2019.
The secretary Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) has forwarded three names - Justice Fiaz Ahmed Anjum Jandran, ASC, Justice Ghulam Azam Qambrani, ASC and Justice Lubna Saleem Pervaiz, DAG - for their appointments as additional judges in the IHC to the parliamentary committee on appointment of judges.
Now the committee, which is scheduled to meet after November 28, 2019 to consider the names for additional judges in IHC recommended by JCP, has forwarded the personal details of nominees to the FBR to furnish their details of income tax paid and returns filed by November 28, 2019.
Meanwhile, sources said that FBR is presently finalizing the required details of these judges, which would later be forwarded to the parliamentary committee on 'Judges Appointment' by November 28, 2019. Thereafter the deliberations on their names would be commenced by the committee. They said that Justice Fiaz is from Islamabad while Justice Ghulam Qambrani and Justice Lubna Saleem are from Bolan and Karachi, respectively.
