Punjab University Dean Faculty of Arts and Humanities Prof Dr Iqbal Chawla has said that art has universal language and China and Pakistan could strengthen bilateral and people to people relations further through fine arts. He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of three-day university exchange and art education forum on "China-Pakistan Friendship" jointly organized by PU College of Arts and Design and Changsha Normal University, College of Fine Arts and Design at Old Campus here on Tuesday.
PU CAD Principal Prof Dr Shahida Manzoor, Chinese delegation headed by the university's Dean of Fine Arts and Design Prof Dr Luoxiangke, PU Confucius Centre Director Liu and a large number of students participated in the event.
While addressing the participant, Prof Dr Iqbal Chawla said that Pakistan and China both were culturally rich countries and fine arts could help us understand each other.
He said that artifacts presented by the Chinese delegation were much impressive in the exhibition. He said that we can learn from each other with various expressions of fine arts. He said that PU Department of History for the first time in Pakistan had launched joint PhD program in the subject of history in collaboration with the China varsity under which 15 Chinese students were studying at PU.
He stressed the need to promote bilateral relations between the universities of both the countries and exchange of students and faculty members. He said One Belt One Road project would bring prosperity for Pakistan and change its destiny. He said that belt and road initiative had opened new opportunities for both the countries.
He said that Western countries were also becoming part of this project as it was a big reality of the time. On the occasion, faculty members from Changsha Normal University briefed the participants about the courses of fine arts being offered at their university. The exhibition would continue till Thursday (tomorrow).
