The ruling party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Tuesday submitted its financial details before the Scrutiny Committee, which separately sought overseas funding details from Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan People's Party (PPP) in the foreign funding case.

After a gap of 20 months, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) finally commenced the proceedings of the foreign funding case and its Scrutiny Committee conducted separate hearings of the funding mechanism involving the PTI, PPP and PML-N.

The three-member Scrutiny Committee consists of ECP's Director General (Law) Muhammad Arshad as its chairman and includes two members; DG (Audit) Defence Services Masood Akhtar Sherwani and Controller Accounts Air Force Muhammad Faheem.

During the hearing of the case, PTI counsel Saqlain Haider submitted the details of the PTI's LCC (life cycle costing) account along with a detailed documentation which included the details of the PTI's overseas donors, details of related bank transactions, relevant bank statements, and receipts of relevant financial activities, sources privy to the matter told Business Recorder.

The PTI's founding member and former party leader Akbar Sher Babar, the petitioner, was represented by Ahmad Hassan. The committee would now review the record of overseas funding provided by the PTI, it is learnt.

Separately, the Scrutiny Committee directed the PML-N and PPP to furnish in detail the respective records of funding from abroad not later than the coming Friday, according to sources. The committee would again meet on November 28.
