Activities at Karachi and Port Qasim
The Karachi Port handled 178,032 tonnes of cargo comprising 114,025 tonnes of import cargo and 64,007 tonnes of export cargo including 8,964 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.
The total import cargos of 114,025 tonnes comprised of 79,481 tonnes of containerised cargo; 10,983 tonnes of DPA; 3,561 tonnes of soyabean seeds and 20,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. The total export cargos of 64,007 tonnes comprised of 34,821 tonnes of containerised cargo; 200 tonnes of bulk cargo; 26,655 tonnes of clinker; 2,331 tonnes of talcum powder and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 8,964 containers comprising of 5,902 containers import and 3,062 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. The breakup of imported containers shows 1,456 of 20's and 2,013 of 40's loaded while 58 of 20's and 181 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,017 of 20's and 430 of 40's loaded containers while 121 of 20's and 532 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were two ships namely Vinalines Galaxy and Mayssan carrying containers sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were three vessels viz. OOCL Chicago, Coral Star and Wieland carrying containers currently at the berths.
The total import cargo of 162,062 tonnes includes 91,363 tonnes of LNG; 1,000 tonnes of palm oil; 8,500 tonnes of soyabean and 61,199 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 14,997 tonnes includes 7,644 tonnes of condensate and 7,353 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,608 containers comprising of 3,221 containers import and 387 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
There was one ship namely MT Shalamar carrying diesel oil sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while another ship namely Al Daayan carrying LNG are expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of six ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, soyabean, LNG and condensate respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as four vessels viz. Weihe, Tiger Eintet, Aligote and Nordic Geneva carrying soyabean, chemical and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were two ships viz. Tiger Eintet and Aligote carrying chemical and diesel oil respectively expected to take berths at Engro Vopak Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Wednesday. There was one ships namely MOL Gateway carrying containers due to arrive on Wednesday, while three more ships namely Smiley Lady, MOL Courage and Maersk Bentonville carrying containers are due to arrive on Thursday.
