Thari woman honoured with Mai Bakhtwar Award
A Thari woman dump truck driver and two others have been awarded the prestigious "Mai Bakhtwar Award" by The Sindh Commission on the Status of Women (SCSW), Government of Sindh.
These women including Nusrat Khaskheli, a dump truck driver of Sindh Engro Coal Mining Company (SECMC), Naila Kausar, a student and entrepreneur from Karachi nominated by Women Development Foundation Pakistan and Falak Naz Hakro, a home-based worker from Sanghar nominated by Sindh Agricultural and Forestry Workers Coordinating Organization during a ceremony. The Selection Committee 2019 which included Mahtab Akbar Rashidi, Khalida Memon and Zulfikar Shah who are not only members of the Advisory Committee SCSW but prominent personalities of Sindh. A list of 7 women was shortlisted, out of which 3 women have been selected, who had remarkable success stories.
The awards were based on the criteria, as decided by the Economic Empowerment Committee of SCSW is a woman who has struggled, contributed to society and to her home and who have demonstrated strength through their contribution to society despite the challenges of rural life.
