Activities at Karachi and Qasim Ports

The Karachi Port handled 155,143 tonnes of cargo comprising 95,705 tonnes of import cargo and 59,438 tonnes of export cargo including 8,458 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.

The Karachi Port handled 155,143 tonnes of cargo comprising 95,705 tonnes of import cargo and 59,438 tonnes of export cargo including 8,458 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargos of 95,705 tonnes comprised of 65,526 tonnes of containerised cargo; 886 tonnes of bulk cargo; 9,955 tonnes of DPA; 5,816 tonnes of soyabean seeds and 13,512 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 59,438 tonnes comprised of 47,163 tonnes of containerised cargo; 100 tonnes of bulk cargo; 6,514 tonnes of clinker; 5,661 tonnes of talcum powder and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 8,458 containers comprising of 3,985 containers import and 4,473 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,506 of 20's and 1,188 of 40's loaded while 99 of 20's and 02 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,105 of 20's and 894 of 40's loaded containers while 522 of 20's and 529 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were four ships namely Coral Star, Wieland, Dong Ting Hu and Sam Lion carrying containers, oil tanker and clinker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were six vessels viz. Smiley Lady, MOL Gateway, APL Le Havre, GSL Eleni, Al Safa and Eastern Begonia carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 118,406 tonnes comprising 72,597 tonnes of import cargo and 45,809 tonnes of export cargo including 2,898 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 72,597 tonnes includes 14,055 tonnes of LNG; 30,292 tonnes of diesel oil; 8,000 tonnes of palm oil; 7,501 tonnes of soyabean; 3,496 tonnes of chemical and 9,253 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 45,809 tonnes includes 45,809 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 2,898 containers comprising of 487 containers import and 2,411 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

There were two ships namely Maersk Santosa and Al Fraiha carrying containers and LNG respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while another ship namely APL Savnnah carrying containers is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of seven ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, soyabean, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as six vessels viz. Weihe, Gas Shante, Nordic Geneva, Pacific Talent, Klara Selmer and Polaris carrying soyabean, LPG, diesel oil, palm kernel and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were six ships viz. Smiley Lady, MOL Courage, Maersk Bentonville, Gas Shante, Pacific Talent and Klara Selmer carrying containers, LPG, diesel oil and palm kernel respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday.

There were three ships namely Smiley Lady, MOL Courage and Maersk Bentonville carrying containers are due to arrive on Thursday, while two more ships namely GSL Eleni and Amina carrying containers and coal respectively are due to arrive on Friday.
