Robberies, snatching on the rise in Capital
The incidents of armed robberies, snatching at gunpoint and dacoities witnessed an increase in the capital city during the last week in spite of tall claims of police about taking a number of initiatives to control the rising crime rate in the metropolis.
According to data gathered by Business Recorder, over 10 cases of various kinds of theft including robbery, dacoity and snatching at gunpoint, six cases of motor vehicle theft and one case of murder were reported to city's various police stations during the last week.
Most 'favourite' areas for the criminal gangs were within the limits of Bani Gala, Kohsar and Tarnol police stations in the same period.
During the period under review, auto thieves stole a bike and robbers struck at two different places in the limits of Bani Gala police station. Zahid Hussain Minhas lodged a complaint with Bani Gala police station that his housemaid stole gold ornaments and other valuables of worth Rs 200,000 from his house.
One Muhammad Miher Ali informed Bani Gala police station that unidentified thieves stole jewellery, cash, LED, a laptop from his house. Auto thieves stole a bike of Waleed Nawaz of Rs 45,000 from the limits of same police station.
During the last week, auto thieves stole three motor bikes from the limits of Kohsar police station. Carjackers stole a bike of Muhammad Abdullah of Rs 100,000, lifted another bike bearing registration number RIM-6522 of Azeem Haider of Rs 80,000 and stole a bike bearing registration number AZC-721 of Shah Faisal of Rs 100,000.
In the period under review, Tarnol police registered one case each of robbery and kidnapping. Sher Wali Khan informed Tarnol police station that the accused Jalal Din and others kidnapped his daughter. Another, Zubair Amed filed a complaint with Ternol police station that three unknown robbers stole cash, gold ornament, and a mobile phone of Rs 150,000 from his house.
During the last week, Golra, Sabzi Mandi, Bhara Kahu, Sihala and Karachi Company registered one case of robbery while one case of murder was reported to Lohi Bher police station.
