Prices of most of the essential kitchen items witnessed a slight reduction during this week past as compared to previous week, a survey conducted by Business Recorder revealed here on Saturday.
The survey noted that after almost a month the tomatoes prices have witnessed a reduction which came down from Rs 1,250 per 5kg to Rs 850 per 5kg in wholesales market and were being sold at Rs 200 per kg against Rs 250-280 per kg.
Onions price also witnessed a slight reduction from Rs 450 per 5kg to Rs 370 per 5kg which in retail market were being sold at Rs 80-85 per kg against Rs 90 per kg and potatoes' price remained stable at Rs 225 per 5kg which were being sold at Rs 50-55 per kg.
There were no changes observed in the non-perishable kitchen items as fine quality Mash pulse was available at Rs 230 per kg, Mong pulse at Rs 200 per kg, and fine quality Lobia at Rs 200 per kg. Similarly good quality ghee/cooking oil was available at Rs 1,130 per 5kg/ litre tin, fine quality chillis at Rs 15,000 per 40kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 400 per kg and fine quality turmeric was available at Rs 9,000 per 40kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 300 per kg. Fine quality Basmati rice was available at Rs 175 per kg, normal Basmati at Rs 100 per kg and Irri-6 rice at Rs 90 per kg. Sugar price also remained stable at Rs 3,400 per 50kg bag which in retail market was being sold at Rs 72 per kg.
Garlic price came down from Rs 1,100 per 5kg to Rs 900 per 5kg which in retail was being sold at Rs 280 per kg against Rs 320 per kg and Chinese garlic price came down from Rs 1,250 per 5kg to Rs 1,050 per 5kg which in retail market was available at Rs 300 per kg against Rs 340 per kg. Ginger price went further down from Rs 1,250 per 5kg to Rs 1,000 per 5kg which was being sold at Rs 300 per kg against Rs 350 per kg.
Egg price went down from Rs 106 per dozen to Rs 100 per dozen which in the retail market was being sold at Rs 110 per dozen against Rs 115 per dozen, chicken price went further down from Rs 5,300 per 40 kg to Rs 5,000 per 40 kg which in the retail market was being sold Rs 135 per kg against Rs 145 per kg while chicken meat was being sold at Rs 210 per kg against Rs 230 per kg.
Pumpkin price went further down from Rs 175-225 per 5kg to Rs 150-200 per 5kg which was being sold in the range of Rs 45-50 per kg against Rs 50-60 per kg, and yam price went up from Rs 400 per 5kg to Rs 450 per 5kg which in the retail market was being sold at Rs 110 per kg against Rs 100 per kg. Okra price went further down from Rs 300 per 5kg to Rs 250 per 5kg which was being sold at Rs 70 per kg against Rs 80 per kg and bitter gourd price went up from Rs 250 per 5kg to Rs 325 per 5kg which in retail was being sold at Rs 75-80 per kg against Rs 65-70 per kg and cabbage price went down from Rs 200 per 5kg to Rs 175 per 5kg which was being sold at Rs 50 per kg against Rs 55 per kg and cauliflower price went up from Rs 175 per 5kg to Rs 250 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 60 per kg against Rs 45-50 per kg.
Peas price remained unchanged at Rs 350 per 5kg which in retail market were being sold at Rs 75-80 per kg, beans price went down from Rs 300 per 5kg to Rs 250 per 5kg which in the retail market were being sold at Rs 60-65 per kg against Rs 75 per kg, prices of various qualities of tinda remained stable at Rs 150-250 per 5kg to which in the retail market were being sold in the range of Rs 45-65 per kg; and turnip price went down from Rs 150 per 5kg to Rs 100 per 5kg which in the retail market was being sold at Rs 30 per kg against Rs 40 per kg.
Overall fruit prices witnessed a mixed trend as golden apple price remained stable at Rs 110 per kg against Rs 120 per kg, Gaja apple was available at Rs 100 per kg against Rs 90 per kg, white apple at Rs 80 per kg against Rs 90 per kg, Pakistani Kala Kolo apple at Rs 150 per kg against 130 per kg and Iranian Kala Kolo apple at Rs 145 per kg against Rs 135 per kg. Good quality local banana was being sold at Rs 75 per dozen against Rs 80 per dozen while normal quality banana was being sold in the range of Rs 50-60 per dozen against Rs 40-55 dozen, and guava was available at Rs 80 per kg against Rs 90 per kg. Various brands of oranges were being sold in the range of Rs 90-100 per dozen, grapes were being sold in the range of Rs 100-180 per kg, and pomegranates were being sold in the range of Rs 100-200 per kg.
