Government summons NA session again on 4th
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government seems confused as it postponed the National Assembly session earlier convened on Monday (December 2) and then summoned the session again on Wednesday (December 4), it is learnt.
The PTI government had postponed the session of the National Assembly after a brief order of the apex court in which the court ruled that General Bajwa would stay as army chief for six months and directed the government to complete the necessary legislation regarding the extension rules in the Constitution within six months.
According to the sources, President Dr Arif Alvi had revoked the summons of the session of National Assembly for Monday (December 2) for preparing a draft of bill to clearly specify the terms and conditions of service of a chief of army staff.
Now, Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs on Friday again sent a summary to the President for summoning the session of the National Assembly on Wednesday (December 4).
The sources said that the Prime Minister forwarded the summary to President Dr Arif Alvi to summon the session of the National Assembly on Wednesday.
They said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed his legal team to prepare a draft of legislation to clearly specify the terms and conditions of service of a chief of army staff after detailed judgment to present in the Parliament for approval.
The sources said that the session would also discuss legislation on important issues while opposition will raise public issues regarding inflation, appointments of members and chief of Election Commission of Pakistan and overpricing.
The President had revoked the summons of session of National Assembly for Monday (December 2, 2019 at 4:00 pm) in the Parliament House, Islamabad. Now, the summary has been set to the President to summon the session of the National Assembly on Wednesday at 4:00 pm.
Earlier, according to a notification issued by National Assembly Secretariat, the President revoked the summons for the National Assembly session in exercise of powers conferred by clause (1) of Article 54 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
