Pakistan Council of World Religions-Faith Friends, an organisation of people belonging to different religions, has expressed serious concern over the growing happenings of violence against Muslims in various countries and urged the United Nations to play its role for control on the ugly unpleasant incident through a fresh legislation.

The demand was raised through a unanimously adopted resolution by the council at a press conference at the Peshawar Press Club. Prominent among those shared views on the occasion include, the council's chairman Qari Ruhullah Madni, Bishop Humphrey Sarfaraz Peter, Hindu community representative Haroon Sarab Diyal, Sikh community representative BaBa Gorpal Singh, Shiite community leader Muzaffar Ali Akhunzada and Dr Hafiz Abdul Ghafoor.

The stakeholders referred to different incidents including Dutch police attack with dogs on a Muslim inside a mosque in October 2019, desecration of Holy Quran in Norway on November 19, shooting Muslims in New Zeeland mosques and blasphemous sketches, etc.

They said that such incidents were live proof of the growing anti-Muslim violence in different European countries which need to be checked strictly. They said none of the religions permitted violence, destruction of worship places but some shortsighted people were in various countries were in the habit to create unrest on basis of faith.

Condemning the ugly incidents, the speakers urged the United Nations to play its role, control the violence otherwise the brutalities would create uncontrolled hatred at the world level. The religious fanatics, they said should be awarded exemplary punishment to avoid indulging in such acts in future.
