The government of Pakistan is mapping all the national heritage sites so that national heritage can be identified and preserved, which has great potential to attract local and global tourism.
This was stated by the senior officials of the National History and Literary Heritage Division (NH&LH) during the Senate Standing Committee on Federal Education, Professional training, National History and Literary Heritage which met in the chairmanship of Senator Rahila Magsi here on Monday.
The official further informed the committee that preservation of Mehrgarh Civilization after the passage of 18th constitutional amendment is not a federal but a provincial issue. The committee invited officials of Balochistan province to discuss the matter regarding preservation of Mehrgarh Civilization in next meeting.
The committee was also informed that an advisory committee on national heritage has been constituted for advising improvement in preservation of national heritage sites across the country.
The committee also constituted a sub-committee to look into the point of public importance matters regarding delaying tactics by Higher Education Commission (HEC) in paying compensation to the land owners who provided their lands for the construction of public sector universities. The matter was raised by Senator Dilawar Khan in the Senate sitting held on 29th January, 2019.
The sub-committee will be led by Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed with Dr Mehr Taj Roughani and Behramand Tangi as members to resolve the issue of delay in payment of compensation to the land owners on whose land three universities were constructed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Barrister Muhammad Ali Khan Saif and Dilawar Khan will assist the committee.
