This is a 'Trumpian age', which is characterised by utter disregard of norms and conventions. Not only is the US President's approach to global issues highly flawed, it is also dangerous for the world community because of a variety of reasons.
US President Trump visited Afghanistan for the first time on November 28, 2019 and skipped a stopover in Islamabad. His decision not to make stopover in the country is rightly being viewed as Washington's lack of interest in deepening bilateral ties. During his three-and-a-half hours stay in Afghanistan, President Trump announced the reopening of stalled peace talks with the Taliban. Doesn't Trump know that Pakistan is a key stakeholder in efforts aimed at obtaining peace in Afghanistan?
