Activities at Karachi Port and Port Qasim
The Karachi Port handled 135,756 tonnes of cargo comprising 99,504 tonnes of import cargo and 36,252 tonnes of export cargo including 6,412 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.
The total import cargos of 99,504 tonnes comprised of 50,443 tonnes of containerised cargo; 11,399 tonnes of bulk cargo; 706 tonnes of DPA; 5,408 tonnes of soyabean seeds and 31,548 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 36,252 tonnes comprised of 36,252 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 6,412 containers comprising of 3,462 containers import and 2,950 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,054 of 20's and 1,201 of 40's loaded while 02 of 20's and 02 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 767 of 20's and 668 40's loaded containers while 131 of 20's and 358 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were nine ships namely CMA CGM Racine, Botany Bay, KMTC Mumbai, Sea Harvest, MT Lahore, CT Ace, Gull Wing, Mykonos Seas and Slaoman Dispatcher carrying containers, oil tankers, chemical, DAP, clinker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were five vessels viz. KMTC Mumbai, JBU Opal, Bristol Trader, AP Sveti Vlaho and FLC Fortune carrying containers, oil tankers, clinker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 88,967 tonnes comprising 77,320 tonnes of import cargo and 11,647 tonnes of export cargo including 2,656 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The total import cargo of 77,320 tonnes includes 6,259 tonnes of diesel oil; 2,065 tonnes of palm kernel; 14,386 tonnes of palm oil; 7,000 tonnes of soyabean; 5,294 tonnes of coal; 3,499 tonnes of chemical and 38,817 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 11,647 tonnes includes 11,647 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 2,656 containers comprising of 2,043 containers import and 613 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
There were three ships namely MSC Messina, Maersk Kensington and Ginga Tiger carrying containers and chemical respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning.
A total number of nine ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, soyabean, coal, chemical, LNG, diesel oil, palm kernel and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as four vessels viz. New Legend Sapphire, Adriana Rose, Gulg Mist and Gas Chem Adriatic carrying general cargo, canola and chemical respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were three ships viz. Tenacity, New Legend Sapphire and Gulg Mist carrying containers, general cargo and chemical respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Wednesday.
There was one ship namely X-Press Bardsey carrying containers due to arrive on Wednesday, while three more ships namely Teno, Hansa America and Smiley Lady carrying containers are due to arrive on Thursday.
