Activities of Karachi Port and Port Qasim
The Karachi Port handled 97,245 tonnes of cargo comprising 68,541 tonnes of import cargo and 28,704 tonnes of export cargo including 3,551 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday.
The total import cargos of 68,541 tonnes comprised of 42,979 tonnes of containerised cargo; 712 tonnes of bulk cargo; 7,938 tonnes of DPA; 2,636 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 1,776 tonnes of palm kernel and 12,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 28,704 tonnes comprised of 1,731 tonnes of containerised cargo; 26,973 tonnes of clinker and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 3,551 containers comprising of 3,139 containers import and 412 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 931 of 20's and 1,100 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 04 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 51 of 20's and 20 of 40's loaded containers while 19 of 20's and 151 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were two ships namely Navios Unison and FLC Fortune carrying containers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were six vessels viz. X-Press Bardsey, Xin Los Angles, Lake Sturgeon, AP Slano, Ikan Parang and Bison Express carrying containers, oil tanker, clinker and carrier respectively currently at the berths.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 161,203 tonnes comprising 143,362 tonnes of import cargo and 17,841 tonnes of export cargo including 2,052 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The total import cargo of 143,362 tonnes includes 1,561 tonnes of diesel oil; 2,335 tonnes of palm kernel; 28,333 tonnes of LNG; 8,500 tonnes of soyabean; 76,890 tonnes of coal; 3,698 tonnes of chemical; 898 tonnes of project cargo and 21,147 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 17,841 tonnes includes 17,841 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 2,052 containers comprising of 1,113 containers import and 939 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
There was one ship namely New Legend Sapphire carrying general cargo sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while three more ships namely Teno, Hansa America and Tenacity Bay carrying containers and coal respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eleven ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, soyabean, coal, chemical, LNG, diesel oil, palm kernel and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as four vessels viz. Happy Helena, Adriana Rose, Nordic Adristan and NCC Qamar carrying containers, canola, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were two ships viz. Kanu and NCC Qamar carrying LNG and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Engro Elengy Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Friday.
There was one ship namely Cosco Japan carrying containers due to arrive on Friday.
There are two ships namely Happy Helena and Cape Male carrying containers due to arrive on Saturday, while another ship namely CP Guangzhou carrying cement is due to arrive on Sunday.
