Institute of Business Management (IoBM) on Saturday held its 22nd convocation and conferred degrees to over 1100 graduates in business management and other disciplines. This is IoBM's largest graduating batch since the institute's inception in 1996.

In his keynote address, Shazad Dada, CEO Standard Chartered Bank said it is heartening to see that 12 out of 14 gold medals were awarded to girls. He emphasized the need for both men and women to work for the progress of Pakistan. He talked about four important things: to have a sense of purpose, accept the benefits of failure, to remain positive and to show kindness and compassion and advised students to work for the less-privileged and give them a part of your life.

Bashir Jan Mohammed, Chancellor IoBM congratulated the parents for their efforts who provided the best education to their children. He advised graduates to focus on honest living and give something back to the society.

Talking on the occasion Talib S Karim, President IoBM said the institute has adopted an open-source learning system, which enables IoBM to gradually replace traditional teaching methodologies with technology-aided virtual learning and now seen as being the preferred alternative for teaching and learning in top-tier higher educational institutions, around the world.

He mentioned IoBM's Outreach Programme that provides financial assistance to deserving students from all over the country irrespective of any discrimination. While talking about the IoBM Endowment Fund, he said that the institute has been consistently providing financial assistance to nearly 25% of its students every year, either on the basis of merit or need.

This year's valedictorian, Fatima Zia-ur-Rehman, student of BS (Honors) Media Studies, delivered an inspiring speech. She was hopeful that the graduates will earn accolades home and abroad. IoBM's graduating class of 2019 included 14 gold medalists and 45 recipients of merit certificates. Among the graduates were 309 BBA, 116 MBA (Regular), seven PhD, 17 MPhil and seven MSc candidates.
