Terming media role vital in mustering public opinion on the government's initiatives, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan Saturday said that all wings of the Information Departments in the center and province must join hands, to evolve better communication strategies and present soft image of the country to the world.
She was addressing a meeting jointly chaired by Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan and Punjab Minister Information Fayyaz ul Hassan Chohan, here today.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said better coordination among all government departments was vital for highlighting success of the government on all fronts and nullifying propaganda of the enemy. She directed all concerned for taking effective steps in highlighting the government's social welfare projects, economic development agenda.
Provincial Minister Fayyaz ul Hassan Chohan highlighted his priorities as Information Minister and called upon all officers to work tirelessly for the glory of the country. He also announced to convene social media convention in Punjab to present positive image of the country before the international community.
Earlier, in a series of tweets, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said the government was pursuing the mission of promoting economic activities and facilitating businesses.
She said: "Kamyab Jawan Programme would provide opportunities to the youth to move forward by opening their small and medium enterprises. An amount of Rs100 billion has been allocated for the first phase of this programme and all the loans under this scheme would be given on merit."
She said that disbursement of loans under this programme was a fulfillment of the promise made by the Prime Minister Imran Khan with the youth.
Moreover, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said that establishment of Digital Police helpline in Gujranwala was a commendable initiative in line with the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan to bring police reforms.
Through this helpline ("My Police App"), the people would be in direct contact with police officers. This was the slogan of Prime Minister to change Thana (police station) culture and today it was becoming a reality. Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said that police was being transformed as an institution to protect the poor instead of supporting criminals.
