Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders arrived in London for an important meeting of the party on Saturday, private TV channels reported. Khawaja Asif, Marriyum Aurangzeb, Rana Tanveer, Shehbaz Sharif, Ayaz Sadiq, Ahsan Iqbal and Amir Muqam are taking part in a meeting which is being held at Edgware Road's Maroush gardens.

The PML-N leaders met former prime minister Nawaz Sharif at the Avenfield Apartments after their meeting at the Maroush Gardens. Ex-foreign minister Khawaja Asif told media that an 'in-house change' needed to take place first if fresh elections are to be held.

Asif said that he had consulted Shehbaz on political developments that had taken place over the past week. Khwaja Asif, however, declined to comment on a legislation with regard to extension in army chief's tenure before the announcement of a detailed verdict by the Supreme Court.

Opposition leader Shahbaz Sharif told media that they were making efforts to reach a consensus on a name for the post of chief election commissioner of Pakistan. Ahsan Iqbal said they would be protesting record inflation and a hike in power tariff on Sunday. He said all other opposition parties would join them in their protest across the country.

"The government has broken all records of inflation," Iqbal said. "We will also raise our voice in the parliament against the government's anti-people policies," he added.
