  • Zardari had sought bail in both fake accounts case and Park Lane case.
  • IHC has ordered him to submit Rs10mn surety bonds each in two corruption references.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) granted on Wednesday bail to Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari in the money laundering through fake accounts case.

During the hearing today, a two-member bench presided by IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah took up his petition. Zardari has been ordered to submit Rs10 million surety bonds each in two corruption references.

His sister Faryal Talpur who is also arrested by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in the same case also filed for bail. However, the high court has set December 17 to hear her plea.

Last week, the PPP leader filed for bail on medical grounds in the two cases filed against him by NAB. Zardari submitted two separate requests for bail in the Park Lane and money laundering references against him. He requested that he be given bail till the completion of the trial against him.
