The business community here on Wednesday warned to launch protest against imposing heavy fines and sealing of petrol pumps due to violation of district administration orders regarding ban on sale of petrol to bikers without helmet in provincial metropolis.

The community described the decision of district authorities to ban on sale of petrol to bikers without helmet was tantamount to 'business-hostile', which would create mistrust with government and hurt businesses, so it is unacceptable to them.

The reservations were apprised by a delegation of Petroleum Association Khyber Pakhtunkhwa led by its chairman, Lais Khan along with petrol pumps owners and dealers, during a meeting with president of the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce, Engr Maqsood Anwer Pervaiz at the chamber house here.

Engr Maqsood said it is responsibility of traffic police, excise and other relevant subordinate departments to implement road safety rules, but the duty has shifted from government officials to business community, which was unacceptable to them.

"Businesses have already slowed down due to ongoing Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit and prolonged terrorism, while the district administration decision would be completely shut down in the provincial metropolis," SCCI chief said.
