Activities at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 122,992 tonnes of cargo comprising 74,262 tonnes of import cargo and 48,730 tonnes of export cargo including 5,180 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.

The Karachi Port handled 122,992 tonnes of cargo comprising 74,262 tonnes of import cargo and 48,730 tonnes of export cargo including 5,180 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargos of 74,262 tonnes comprised of 33,947 tonnes of containerised cargo; 910 tonnes of bulk cargo; 3,049 tonnes of DPA; 3,415 tonnes of palm kernel and 32,941 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 48,730 tonnes comprised of 32,349 tonnes of containerised cargo; 861 tonnes of bulk cargo; 14,27o tonnes of clinker and 1,250 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 5,180 containers comprising of 2,439 containers of import and 2,741 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 660 of 20's and 864 of 40's loaded while 01 of 20's and 25 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 860 of 20's and 394 of 40's loaded containers while 301 of 20's and 396 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were seven ships namely Folegandros, Altonia, Coral Star, Chem Trader, Ipsea Colossus, AP Slano and EM Sapphire carrying containers, oil tanker, DAP, clinker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were two vessels viz. Seaspan Yangtze and Willet carrying containers and oil tanker respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 164,452 tonnes comprising 119,973 tonnes of import cargo and 44,479 tonnes of export cargo including 3,077 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 119,973 tonnes includes 1,550 tonnes of LPG; 2,730 tonnes of palm kernel; 3,000 tonnes of soyabean; 71,076 tonnes of coal; 27,533 tonnes of gas oil; 100 tonnes of Roro and 13,984 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 44,479 tonnes includes 44,479 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,077 containers comprising of 736 containers import and 2,341 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

There were no ships sailed out to sea on Thursday.

A total number of seven ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, soyabean, coal, LNG, palm kernel and mogas respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as eleven vessels viz. Kyoto Express, MOL Grandeur, Seagulf, Jia Yuf, Rowayton Eagle, Adventurer, Adriana Rose, Tiger Winter, Jeppesen Maersk, Nordic Tristan and GT Star carrying containers, coal, soyabean, canola, MEG, general cargo, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were four ships viz. Kyoto Express, MOL Grandeur, Maersk Brooklyn and GT Star carrying containers and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday. There was no ship due to arrive on Thursday.
