SCBA chief slams PIC mayhem
Syed Qalb-e-Hassan, President Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) on Friday proposed that doctors and lawyers should sit together to avoid further confrontation after the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC)'s unfortunate incident in Lahore.
Addressing at a press conference along with the senior lawyers, SCBA President condemned the PIC incident and said that lawyers should not have gone to the hospital.
He, however pointed out that only lawyers are being blamed for the tragic incident, whereas doctors also put the lawyers to harsh treatment when dispute erupted between the two over making a queue in hospital after injured lawyers in an accident were brought to PIC some time back.
He said that whosever fault was should be probed, but this inflated the hostility between the two professional factions of the society. He said that more than hundred lawyers were arrested and they were produced in the court.
"Doctors were also involved in this tragic incident. But unfortunately only the lawyers are being targeted in the action in respect of the incident", he regretted. He deplored that treatment being meted out to lawyers after the incident by government and police reflected as lawyers have come from enemy's land.
