'Majority of KP trade bodies support BMP in FPCCI polls'

Majority of the chambers of commerce and traders' associations of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has extended support to the Businessmen Panel (BMP) for the upcoming annual elections of the Federation of Chamber and Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) here the other day.

Majority of the chambers of commerce and traders' associations of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has extended support to the Businessmen Panel (BMP) for the upcoming annual elections of the Federation of Chamber and Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) here the other day.

In this connection, a gathering of the business community of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was held in the spacious Al-Hamra Banquets in Mardan. Beside, former president, FPCCI Haji Ghulam Ali, former vice presidents including Mohammad Adnan Jalil, Fazal Elahi and Riaz Khattak, former president, Tribal Area Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TACCI), Mohammad Shoaib Khan, Zahir Shah, Atif Haleem, Sharafat Ali Mubarak and presidents and management committee members of the chambers, local industrialists and traders attended the function at large.

Those participated in the function were included Mohmand Chamber, Lower Dir Chamber, Chitral Chamber, Mardan Chamber, Swabi Chamber, Peshawar Chamber of Small Traders and Industries and Women Chamber of Commerce, Mardan.

On this occasion, the office bearers of these chambers announced full support to BMP chief, Mian Anjum Nisar and his panel in elections for the presidentship of FPCCI. Addressing the function, the BMP Leader and presidential candidate, Mian Anjum Nisar vowed that they will restore the lost glory of the apex trade body and will take forward the affairs of the federation in consultations with business community.

He paid tributes to the services rendered by the general secretary BMP and former president FPCCI Haji Ghulam Ali for the business community of the country and pledged to carry forward the same traditions and turning the federation an advocate of the business community. He said that the platform of the federation will be utilized as tool for the resolution of the problems of business community and will bring it at par with the national level trade bodies of the other countries.

He said that unfortunately the role of the apex trade body has been eroded during the reign of the incumbent ruling group of the federation. He further pledged to strengthen the Research and Development (R&D) of the federation and even its out-sourcing and adoption of the system of other countries to make it effective.

Mian Anjum Nisar termed the bypassing of the FPCCI on important economic matters an insult of the apex trade body. He said that he is fully aware of the problems of the business community and will bring further improvement in the ease of doing business. He also pledged to make efforts for generating employment opportunities in the country. He said that they will utilize the potentials of all areas and will work for establishing industrial estates and provision of facilities in them.

Coming hard on the performance of the ruling United Business Group (UBG), he said that the federation has been converted into a club of few individuals that had multiplied the problems of the business community. He said that the business community to avenge it on December 27 by voting in favor of BMP.

He claimed that BMP is going to sweep elections in KP and Sindh and neck to neck contest in Punjab. He vowed to bring improvement in national economy and bring at par with developed countries of the world. He said that instead of becoming liability they will deliver.
