Activities at Karachi and Port Qasim

The Karachi Port handled 59,051 tonnes of cargo comprising 33,888 tonnes of import cargo and 25,163 tonnes of export cargo including 3,516 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.

The Karachi Port handled 59,051 tonnes of cargo comprising 33,888 tonnes of import cargo and 25,163 tonnes of export cargo including 3,516 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargos of 33,888 tonnes comprised of 26,307 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,652 tonnes of bulk cargo and 4,929 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 25,163 tonnes comprised of 24,554 tonnes of containerised cargo; 09 tonnes of bulk cargo and 600 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 3,516 containers comprising of 2,187 containers of import and 1,329 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 350 of 20's and 790 of 40's loaded while 71 of 20's and 93 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 685 of 20's and 321 of 40's loaded containers while nil of 20's and 01 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were four ships namely Kota Gunawan, Beijing Bridge, Diyala and Theodosia carrying containers and mogas respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were six vessels viz. Greemwich Bridge, CMA CGM Rabelais, Ginga Tiger, Vinalines Glory, Porthos and Da De carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 140,741 tonnes comprising 114,925 tonnes of import cargo and 25,816 tonnes of export cargo including 1,800 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargo of 114,925 tonnes includes 21,028 tonnes of LNG; 600 tonnes of LPG; 7,400 tonnes of palm oil; 10,500 tonnes of canola; 46,425 tonnes of coal; 8,072 tonnes of mogas and 20,900 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 25,816 tonnes includes 12,516 tonnes of cement and 13,300 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 1,800 containers comprising of 1,100 containers import and 700 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

There were two ships namely Al-Garraffa and Nordic Tristan carrying LNG and diesel oil respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while another ship namely Conti Champion carrying containers is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of nine ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, canola, coal, cement, LPG, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as eight vessels viz. Adventurer, Yusuf Al-Ghanim, Leader, Pacific Legend, Hai Sheng, Tiger Integrity, Genuine Venus and CT Confedence carrying soyabean, diesel oil, palm kernel and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were six ships viz. MSC Valencia, Maersk Seletar, MSC Paola, Cypress Galaxy, Leader and Tiger Integrity carrying containers, chemical, diesel oil and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Tuesday.

There were three ships namely MSC Valencia, MSC Paola and Cypress Galaxy carrying containers and chemical respectively due to arrive on Tuesday. There is one ship namely MOL Generosity carrying containers due to arrive on Wednesday.
