Districts & tehsil level: Punjab to set up week-long model bazaars
Punjab government has decided to establish more model bazaars and agriculture fair price shops at districts and tehsil level which will remain open for the whole week.
This was decided in a meeting held here at civil secretariat. Provincial Industries & Trade Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal presided over a meeting.
In the first phase model bazaars will be established in those districts where this facility is available. Places have been identified for setting up model bazaars and tehsils and districts. Provincial Minister directed to complete the registration of shops with the help of urban units for establishing agriculture fair price shops. Best arrangements of parking, lighting, cleanliness and security in the model bazaars should be ensured.
The purpose of establishing model bazaars is to provide relief to common man and this objective should be fulfilled at any cost, he added. Provincial Minister said more shops should be set up instead of making joy land.
He said model bazaars and agriculture fair price shops are big source of providing relief to common man therefore, government has decided to extend the network of fair price shops and model bazaars, he concluded.
Secretary Trade & Industries, DG Industries, CEO Model Bazaars Management Company and concerned officers attended the meeting. While addressing the meeting, provincial minister for industries has said planning has been finalized for establishing model bazaars in 142 tehsils of the province.
