Govt taking steps for welfare of farmers: Qureshi

MULTAN: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said on Wednesday agriculture was the backbone of the country's economy and the incumbent government was taking steps for welfare of farmers.

He expressed these views in a message on the occasion of Farmers Day, according to a press release issued by Babul Quraish, a local media cell of the Qureshi Family.

Qureshi said he was happy as he himself belonged to a farmer family.

"The nation pays rich tribute to industrious farmers as they are playing a vital role in strengthening the national economy", Qureshi said and added that economic stability of the country was related to economic empowerment of farmers and the government was committed to provide the maximum facilities to them.
