  • Gas crisis in Sindh has turned pretty severe, with CNG stations closed from Tuesday afternoon due to reduced gas pressure in the SSGC's system.
  • SNGPL has also decided to temporarily discontinue gas supply to general industries and CNG Sector.

As winters grip the country, the gas crisis in Sindh has worsened, with CNG stations facing 90-hour load-shedding, leaving the public transport unavailable on the roads.

As per details, the gas crisis in Sindh has turned pretty severe, with CNG stations closed from 2pm on Tuesday afternoon due to reduced gas pressure in the Sui Southern Gas Company's (SSGC) system, which will be open at 8am on Saturday.

Public rush to CNG stations but have to return empty handed while industrialists have said that the unavailability of gas due to low pressure has affected the industrial production. Site Association has called on Prime Minister Imran Khan to take notice of the gas crisis.

The same is true for domestic consumers of gas, as gas is unavailable from the homes of New Karachi, North Karachi, Korangi, Site Area, Bufferzone, Liaquatabad, PIB Colony, Punjab Chowrangi and Sultanabad.

The SSGC, on the other hand, says the gas is facing a drop in pressure due to the cold.

Furthermore, the Sui Northern Gas (SNGPL) has also decided to temporarily discontinue gas supply to general industries and CNG Sector.

According to SNGPL Spokesperson, gas supply to zero rated industries will not be affected by the decision. It was further clarified that the decision has been taken on temporary basis owing to the current situation and supply to general industries and CNG Sector will be restored as soon as the situation gets normal.
