Punjab Finance department on Saturday has denied withdrawing Rs 120 million grant announced by the Punjab government for lawyers. While referring to a news item, the department's spokesperson clarified that no decision was taken in this connection and added that the earlier announcement of Rs 120 million for lawyers stand intact.
"In this connection, we have neither refused nor the Punjab Chief Minister's decision was ever revisited," she added.
It may be recalled that Standing Committee of the Cabinet on Finance and Development in its 19th meeting held on November 14 approved an amount of Rs 125.500 million as Grant-in-Aid in favour of different bar associations of Punjab through Supplementary Grant during the current financial year 2019-20.
