Pakistan Peoples' Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Monday appeared in belligerent mood with state authorities, challenging the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to arrest him, if it has courage to do so.
Addressing a press conference, Bilawal said he would not appear before the NAB investigators on December 24 (tomorrow), terming the call-up notice served to him by the anti-corruption watchdog as "illegal and unconstitutional".
"Arrest me, if you have courage," he said, rejecting corruption cases being investigated against him by the anti-graft authority.
He strongly reacted over the arrest of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and former federal planning and development minister Ahsan Iqbal in the Narowal Sports City (NSC) Project corruption case. He alleged that the opposition parties and leaders were being harassed by the NAB-Niazi nexus which had now exposed with the arrest of yet another politician belonging to the opposition.
Bilawal warned he would turn more dangerous, if he was arrested by NAB investigators.
PPP central leader Sherry Rehman, Sindh Minister Saeed Ghani, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, Suhail Anwar Sial and Waqar Mehdi were also present on this occasion.
PPP Chairman said he would reach Liaquat Bagh, Rawalpindi on December 27 to observe his mother Benazir Bhutto's death anniversary at any cost.
He said he had been frequently making announcements that PPP would observe Benazir's death anniversary on December 27 in Rawalpindi, however the PTI-led federal government had not issued permission. Also he alleged that the government was creating impediments to his party workers in making transportation arrangements for the event.
Bilawal said if Khadim Hussain Razvi and Maulana Fazlur Rehman were given permissions to hold sit-inns, why not for PPP. "Holding peaceful protest is our democratic right." he said.
Despite reservations over the NAB's actions, Bilawal said he would continue to appear before the bureau but not on Dec 24. He said he respected the rule of law of the country. "I can face all these illegitimate accusations," he said.
