The Pakistani nation will pay glowing tribute to Father of the Nation Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah on his 143rd birth anniversary being marked on Wednesday (today) with a resolve to transform Pakistan into a vibrant, progressive and enlightened country as envisioned by the great leader.
The day will dawn with special prayers for the country's progress and prosperity. Various organisations have chalked out programmes to highlight different aspects of the life of the Father of the Nation. The day is a public holiday and the national flag will be hoisted on principal government buildings across the country.
Cadets from the Pakistan Military Academy, Kakul, will assume the duty of ceremonial guards at the Quaid's mausoleum. Television and radio channels will present special programmes to highlight different aspects of the Quad's life and his monumental political struggle.
Born on December 25, 1876, Mohammad Ali Jinnah served as leader of the All India Muslim League from 1913 until Pakistan's creation on August 14, 1947. He then served as Pakistan's first Governor General till his death on September 11, 1948.
The best way of paying tribute to Quaid was to strive for making Pakistan a peaceful, moderate, welfare and developed Islamic state in accordance with his vision, political analysts said, adding: "The Quaid-e-Azam is ranked amongst the most visionary politicians and great statesmen of the world who successfully led the freedom movement of Muslims of the subcontinent and established the first Islamic ideological state of the world."
