The Karachi Port handled 255,666 tonnes of cargo comprising 167,437 tonnes of import cargo and 88,229 tonnes of export cargo including 8,189 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargos of 167,437 tonnes comprised of 126,356 tonnes of containerised cargo and 41,081 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 88,229 tonnes comprised of 76,171 tonnes of containerised cargo; 150 tonnes of bulk cargo; 7,800 tonnes of clinkers and 4,100 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 8,189 containers comprising of 3,846 containers of import and 4,343 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 606 of 20's and 1,449 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 171 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 484 of 20's and 776 of 40's loaded containers while 511 of 20's and 898 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were six ships namely CMA CGM Lamartine, KNTC Dubai, Coral Star, Hyundai Colombo, MT Shalamar and Glovis Melody carrying containers, oil tanker and clinker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were seven vessels viz. Athenian, CMA CGM Medea, KNTC Dubai, Coral Star, Hyundai Colombo, STI Express and Lady Mira carrying containers, oil tanker and rice respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 180,630 tonnes comprising 103,487 tonnes of import cargo and 77,143 tonnes of export cargo including 3,723 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 103,487 tonnes includes 14,772 tonnes of LNG; 3,000 tonnes of LPG; 7,400 tonnes of palm oil; 60,294 tonnes of coal; 427 tonnes of project cargo and 17,594 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 77,143 tonnes includes 24,000 tonnes of codensate and 53,143 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,723 containers comprising of 926 containers import and 2,797 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

There was one ship namely MOL Globe carrying containers sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while six more ships namely SM Charleston, Maersk Chicago, Feronia, White Purl, Umm Bab and Amber Sun carrying containers, coal, LPG, LNG and condensate respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of eleven ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, rice, LPG, LNG, palm kernel and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as nine vessels viz. African Turn, Manta Hat Ice, Lady Mira, Al Mahboobah, Stanley Park, Al-Salam-II, Yusuf Al-Ghanim, Alogote and Song Wind carrying general cargo, rice, chemical, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were five ships viz. Hoegh Garnet, Maersk Benton, Nagoya Express, Al Mahboobah and Song Wind carrying containers, chemical and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday.

There are no ships due to arrive on Thursday.
