The Karachi Port handled 98,052 tonnes of cargo comprising 72,521 tonnes of import cargo and 25,531 tonnes of export cargo including 6,447 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday.
The total import cargos of 72,521 tonnes comprised of 67,672 tonnes of containerised cargo and 4,849 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 25,531 tonnes comprised of 23,221 tonnes of containerised cargo; 150 tonnes of bulk cargo; 2,160 tonnes of rice and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 6,447 containers comprising of 4,210 containers of import and 2,237 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. The breakup of imported containers shows 1,614 of 20's and 1,265 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 33 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 650 of 20's and 397 of 40's loaded containers while 49 of 20's and 372 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely CMA CGM Medea, APL England, Athenian, AS Olivia and STI Express carrying containers, oil tanker and mogas respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were five vessels viz. CSCL Africa, MOL Globe, MSC Lana, Talara and Oriental Cosmos carrying containers and oil tankers respectively currently at the berths.
The total import cargo of 206,711 tonnes includes 140,000 tonnes of LNG; 2,124 tonnes of LPG; 3,880 tonnes of palm oil; 1,835 tonnes of palm kernel; 17,300 tonnes of coal and 41,572 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 26,741 tonnes includes 8,739 tonnes of rice; 845 tonnes of condensate and 17,157 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,091 containers comprising of 2,188 containers import and 903 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
There were two ships namely Bulk Carina and Amber Sun carrying coal and condensate respectively sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while two more ships namely Nagoya Express and White Purl carrying containers and LPG respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of nine ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, rice, LNG, condensate, palm kernel and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as nine vessels viz. African Turn, Manta Hat Ice, Lady Mira, Happy Osprey, Al Mahboobah, Stanley Park, Al-Salam-II, Yusuf Al-Ghanim and Alogote carrying general cargo, rice, chemical, gas oil and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were four ships viz. CMA CGM Medea, Al Mahboobah, Tomson Gas and Al-Salam-II carrying containers, chemical, LPG and gas oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Friday. There are no ships due to arrive on Friday.
