The US Deputy Consul General in Karachi Jack Hillmeyer on Friday said that minorities' rights are protected in Pakistan as they celebrate their religious & social festivals here freely. He expressed these views while speaking in a Christmas cake cutting ceremony held by the Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar for members of the Christian community in Safari Park.
He said the endeavours of the city Mayor for inter religion harmony rightly deserves praise and appreciation. The Mayor was represented by Rehan Hashmi Chairman DMC Central, whereas Kanwar Ayub Director Safari Park welcomed the guests on this occasion.
Others who participated in the event include the Pastor Suleman Manzoor, International Sweden, Pastor Muazzam John, Chairman APCC, Bishop Jamis Poul, Chairman new revival Church, Adv Shahbaz Sohtra, NAB Sindh, Pastor Shahid Anwer from Church of Pakistan with members from Christian community in the city council Karachi.
Jack Hillmeyer along with chairman DMC Central and others cut the cake as children presented beautiful tableaus on the occasion. The programme began with national anthem.
American deputy CG said such events bring the people together and create harmony among them. Rehan Hashmi thanked the US deputy CG for attending the programme and said that the MQM Pakistan always made sure to protect the rights of minorities and we believed in this.
