Pakistan's import of mobile handsets surged by 64 percent to $498.466 million during July-Nov 2019, official figures say. Increase in cellular handsets now stands at $193.815 million during July-Nov 2019 comparing to the phones import of $304.651 million in July-Nov 2018, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics shows.
In Nov 2019, cellular phones import surged by 150.29 percent or $66.487 million to $110.725 million from $44.238 million in Nov 2018.
Overall telecom imports grew by 25.07 percent or $82.842 million to $628.762 million in July-Nov 2019 from $545.920 million in July-Nov 2018.
The country's imports of overall telecom goods mounted to $147.650 million in Nov 2019 from $97.391 million in Nov 2018, showing an increase of 52 percent or $50.259 million.
Imports of other apparatuses however slumped by 23 percent or $56.973 million to $184.296 million in July-Nov 2019 from $241.269 million in July-Nov 2018.
Pakistan imported $36.925 million of other apparatuses in Nov 2019 which is lower by 54 percent or $16.228 million from $53.153 million in Nov 2018, according to the figures.
