A day after it issued a notification, the Government of Sindh on Tuesday lifted the ban on pillion riding in Karachi ahead of New Year's Eve.
On Monday, the government under Section 144 (6) Cr.PC, imposed a complete ban on carrying or display of arms, aerial firing, fire crackers and pillion riding from December 31, till the morning of January 01.
However, today, the ban was lifted on the orders of Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Karachi Commissioner Iftikhar Ali Shallwani said. He further said that a ban on display of weapons and use of firearms will remain in place, local media reported.
