The Karachi Port handled 73,017 tonnes of cargo comprising 46,951 tonnes of import cargo and 26,066 tonnes of export cargo including 3,098 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.
The total import cargos of 46,951 tonnes comprised of 30,623 tonnes of containerised cargo; 135 tonnes of bulk cargo and 16,193 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 26,066 tonnes comprised of 8,280 tonnes of containerised cargo; 200 tonnes of bulk cargo; 17,586 tonnes of clinker and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 3,098 containers comprising of 2,394 containers of import and 704 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 490 of 20's and 952 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 226 of 20's and 128 of 40's loaded containers while nil of 20's and 111 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were four ships namely Seattle Sea, Diyala, Sea King and Medi Okinawa carrying containers, oil tanker and clinker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were four vessels viz. Wan Hai-611, Berlin Express, MT Karachi and Grace carrying containers, oil tanker and clinker respectively currently at the berths.
