Provincial Minister for Trade & Industries Mian Aslam Iqbal said that Furniture City in being set up on an area of 200 acres in Faisalabad Industrial Estate. The Minister stated this while speaking to the furniture makers' delegation that called on him here Tuesday. The meeting discussed matters regarding providing status of furniture city to Chiniot, establishment of timber market in the city and problems being faced by the furniture industry.

Mian Aslam said that there is a vast scope to extend furniture industry in the province. The provincial government is taking steps on priority basis to promote furniture industry. He directed the industries department to submit recommendations regarding establishment of timber market and giving status of furniture city to Chiniot.

It is top priority of the government to bring new investment and create new job opportunities. Cottage industry of the province will be revived in three phases. In the first phase, the cottage industry would be revived in 12 districts. He said that soft loan and technical training will be provided for revival of cottage industry. Additional Secretary Industry Arshad Zaidi, officers concerned, President, Furniture Association Chiniot, Mehr Haider Ali were present in the meeting.
