Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) has officially announced annual election result held on December 27, 2019. According to official results Businessmen Panel (BMP) Group candidate Anjum Nisar got 186 votes and declared elected as president of FPCCI for the year 2020 whereas his opponent United Business Group (UBG) candidate Dr Nouman Idris Butt secured 166 votes.

The result of Senior Vice President is withheld because 4 votes are sealed and both the candidates Muhammad Hanif Gohar and Asim Ghani Usman secured equal 172 votes.

Out of total of 11 vice presidents seats BMG got 6 whereas UBG got 4 seats and result on one seat was withheld Muhammad Ali Quaid of (UBG) elected unopposed on the seat of Federal Area.

On Sindh province seat Abdul Qayyum Qureshi (BMP) declared elected, on Balochistan seat Jume Khan (BMP), on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa seat Qaisar Khan (BMP) and on Punjab seat Zahid Iqbai (UBG) On four vice presidents seats of associations: Khurran Ijaz (BMP), Zubair Baweja (UBG) and Sultan Rehman ((BMP) have been declared elected.

Whereas result of Dr Muhammad Arshad (BMP), representing Pakistan Poultry Association , remained sub judice before Islamabad High Court . The official election result for the respected position is being withheld till the final outcome of the petition.

On the seat of vice president of chambers of small traders: Nadeem Sheikh (UBG) and on vice president seat of women's chambers Ms Roohi Rizwan of (BMP) declared elected. The result has been updated on FPCCI website.

Patron-in-Chief of United Business Group (UBG) and former President FPCCI, S M Muneer has congratulated Anjum Nisar on his success and becoming next president of FPCCI.

He said, "We hope that Anjum Nisar will work for business community and get their issues resolved on priority bases. He also congratulated business community on New Year and hoped that the New Year will bring economic stability in the country.

Spokesman for United Business Group (UBG) Gulzar Feroz said that they have challenged for allowing of 24 votes of Balochistan in the Supreme Court and now wait the outcome. President Pakistan Businessmen and Intellectuals Forum (PBIF), Mian Zahid Hussain said, "We are thankful for the business community of Pakistan which has elected Businessmen Panel (BMP) in the FPCCI elections".

Chairman Businessmen Group (BMG) & Former President Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) Siraj Kassam Teli has congratulated Chairman Businessmen Panel and the newly elected President FPCCI Mian Anjum Nisar, Senior Vice Chairman BMP Mian Zahid Hussain, Shaukat Ahmed, Zakaria Usman and others on BMP's impressive victory in FPCCI's elections.

Siraj Teli stressed that FPCCI, as a national institution will have to focus on getting the national issues resolved while the newly elected leadership must fulfil their commitments made to the business community during the election campaign.
