The Punjab Assembly on Tuesday unanimously passed a resolution against those making blasphemous remarks in the name of freedom of expression. The resolution was submitted by provincial minister Ammar Yasir. It demanded that steps should be taken to block blasphemous material on social media on the pattern of Saudi Arabia. It also demanded that books containing blasphemous material should be confiscated. The resolution demanded strict action against those who were involved in uploading such material on internet.

PPP parliamentary leader Syed Hassan Murtaza while speaking on a point of order said that sugar mill owners have stopped buying sugarcane without any announcement. He said source of income of 80 percent members of South Punjab is agriculture. "Prices of electricity and petrol are increasing day by day which are badly affecting the farmers." He demanded the government take notice of this situation.

While responding to the point of order of Hassan Murtaza, Law Minister Raja Basharat said all of us are related to agriculture sector in one way or other. He said that no sugar mill had stopped crushing sugarcane.

Earlier, Raja Basharat while talking to media outside the Punjab Assembly regarding extending of bail to Nawaz Sharif said that the application submitted by Nawaz Sharif's lawyer Khwaja Haris has been received by the Punjab government which is under consideration. He also said that reports we have received so far are inadequate, so we have asked the lawyer to give more medical reports of Nawaz Sharif.

Raja Basharat is the head of the committee that Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has established with regard to extending the bail period of Mian Nawaz Sharif.
