The Karachi Port handled 141,931 tonnes of cargo comprising 80,765 tonnes of import cargo and 61,166 tonnes of export cargo including 9,415 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargos of 80,765 tonnes comprised of 52,996 tonnes of containerised cargo and 27,769 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 61,166 tonnes comprised of 48,334 tonnes of containerised cargo; 584 tonnes of bulk cargo; 11,198 tonnes of clinker and 1,050 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 9,415 containers comprising of 4,042 containers of import and 5,373 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,110 of 20's and 1,239 of 40's loaded while 132 of 20's and 161 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,001 of 20's and 757 of 40's loaded containers while 488 of 20's and 1,185 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were seven ships namely Clemens Schulte, CMA CGM Fiffel, MT Karachi, Sofia, Al Mahboobah, Taihua Spirit and Grace carrying containers, oil tankers, chemical and clinker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were four vessels viz. CMA CGM Fiffel, Flagship Violet, Etisalat and Ocean Cross carrying containers, oil tanker, Survey V/L and clinker respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 263,628 tonnes comprising 213,017 tonnes of import cargo and 50,611 tonnes of export cargo including 3,956 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 213,017 tonnes includes 55,257 tonnes of LNG; 1,937 tonnes of LPG; 64,157 tonnes of coal; 23,059 tonnes of diesel oil; 19,100 tonnes of palm oil; 2,157 tonnes of palm kernel; 16,000 tonnes of soyabean and 31,350 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 50,611 tonnes includes 6,797 tonnes of rice and 43,814 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,956 containers comprising of 1,650 containers import and 2,306 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

There were four ships namely MOL Gateway, Maersk Pittsburgh, IVD Okudogo and Pacific Legend carrying containers, coal and palm kernel respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while two more ships namely MSC Antanella and Gas Amazon carrying containers and LPG respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of thirteen ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, rice, soyabean, LPG, LNG, diesel oil, palm kernel and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as nine vessels viz. African Turn, Han Ren, Leo Iris, Epic Trader, Reemo, Tiger Winter, NH-Sir-I, Hong Ze Hu and Genuine Galaxy carrying general cargo, soyabean, coal, rice, chemical, mogas, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were three ships viz. CMA CGM Titus, Hansa America and African Tern carrying containers and coal respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Pakistan International Bulk Terminal respectively on Thursday.

There was one ship namely Hansa America carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday.
