Court exempts Nawaz Sharif from appearing in Chaudhry Sugar Mills case

An accountability court granted on Friday exemption to Nawaz Sharif from appearing in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills (CSM) case.
During a hearing today, Nawaz’s lawyer Amjad Pervez appeared before the court and informed the court that his client was unwell and undergoing treatment in London. Nawaz's medical reports were presented before the court after which he was granted exemption till January 17, local media reported.
The Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) leader was arrested by the National Accountability Bureau last year in October. Nawaz has also been convicted in the in Al-Azizia Mills corruption case and awarded seven-year imprisonment.
However, he was granted bail by the Islamabad High Court on humanitarian grounds in the Al-Azizia. The former PM also obtained bail in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case, from the Lahore High Court.
