Model Customs Collectorate (MCC), Appraisement East has remained short by Rs 38.10 billion to achieve its revenue target of Rs 263.62 billion till the end of second quarter of current financial year.

According to details, the MCC Appraisement East has collected Rs 225.51 billion against overall assigned target of Rs 263.62 billion, depicting 14 percent decline till December 31, 2019. The department has collected Rs 78.4 billion as Customs duty against the target of Rs 108.97 billion, plunging by 28 percent.

Similarly, the negative trend continued in the collection of sales tax, income tax and federal excise duty, showing 2 percent, 14 percent and 3 percent decline with revenue collection of Rs 112.16 billion, Rs 34.12 billion and Rs.830 million, respectively against the assigned targets of Rs 114.89 billion, Rs 39.57 billion and Rs 855 million, correspondingly. The revenue collections are said to be mainly affected by the measures taken by the government to curtail imports, which also reflected in month-wise collection figures.

In December, the revenue collection under the head of Customs duty has shrunk to Rs 13.98 billion, showing 35 percent decline from the assigned target and 11 percent decrease as compared to the collection made during last corresponding month. The collection made under sales tax showed seven percent growth in December. However, the revenue collection made under income tax and federal excise duty witnessed 10 percent and 50 percent decline, respectively.
