Finance Ministry said on Sunday that the process for incorporating a company in Pakistan for a married man or woman is the same. The Ministry clarified in response to a tweet by the World Bank country Director for Pakistan, Illango that in Pakistan, married women cannot legally register a business in the same way as married men as the business registration procedures differ for women & men. What would Pakistan's economy look like if this was easier for women?, he questioned Finance Ministry responded that there is no additional requirement for a married woman. Married man or woman is required to provide same set of information/ documents for registering a company.
The Ministry added that CNIC/passport copy is accepted as a proof of a person's identity (a man or a woman) and for verification of his/her particulars. Application for company incorporation requires same particulars of subscribers/directors/ officers, irrespective of gender. A woman subscriber may mention her father or husband name. The same set of particulars are required to be mentioned (by a man or a woman) at the subscriber's page of Memorandum of Association and Articles of Association and the same is signed by each subscriber in the presence of a witness. This requirement is applicable to both; a man or a woman.
