The Met Office on Monday issued weather warning following downpour with snowfall over northern Balochistan, alerting the citizens and authorities to land sliding and flash flooding in local streams. It said that scattered rains with a snowfall over the hills is expected in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper and central Punjab, Bahawalpur Division, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir while isolated falls in central and southern districts of Balochistan.
"A strong westerly wave is affecting most upper and central parts of the country and likely to persist in upper parts till Wednesday," the Met added.
In the past 24 hours: Widespread rain fell in Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, while isolated falls in upper Sindh, Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan. Snowfall was also recorded in Malam Jabba, Kalam, Parachinar, Zhob and Bagrote during the period.
Kalat received 55 mm of rainfall, Quetta (Samungli) 52 mm, Quetta City 41 mm, Dalbandin 35 mm, Sibbi and Parachinar 26 mm, each, Malam Jabba 25 mm, Bahawalpur Airport 22 mm, Nokkundi 17 mm, Zhob, Bahawalnagar and Faisalabad 16 mm, each, Murree 15 mm, Kasur and Jhang 14 mm, each, Saidu Sharif, Hafizabad, Layyah, Kot Addu, Bhakkar and Sahiwal 13 mm, Bahawalpur City, Okara and Khanewal 12 mm, D. I. Khan, Barkhan and Bannu 11, each and Muzaffarabad City 10 mm. Malam Jabba received 10 inches of snowfall, Parachinar and Kalam 5 inches, each, Zhob 2 inches and Bagrote 1 inch. Skardu witnessed minus 13 degrees Celsius of temperature, Astore minus 9, Kalam minus 8, Panrachinnar, Gupis and Bagrote minus 7, each, Malamjabba minus 6, Hunza and Rawalakot minus 5, each.
