This is investment for future that is otherwise difficult to predict, and the manifestation of the efforts of Professor Dr Masroor Ellahi Babar and his team who had the vision and wisdom to foresee the needs of research in the decade to come and plan the direction of their future.

He said the Research and Development sector within industries and academia in Pakistan is very weak. Strengthening of this sector can contribute to development of skilled labor, better products and a contribution in the economy. Within life sciences, techniques have been advanced to the stage where genes are the key factors in treatment of diseases, specialized medicine, and healthcare. Therefore, it is the need of the hour to channelize our resources towards research in this segment.
