The Karachi Port handled 100,118 tonnes of cargo comprising 73,966 tonnes of import cargo and 26,152 tonnes of export cargo including 6,676 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday.

The total import cargos of 73,966 tonnes comprised of 57,817 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,550 tonnes of fertilizer and 13,599 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 26,152 tonnes comprised of 26,152 tonnes of containerised cargo and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 6,676 containers comprising of 3,893 containers of import and 2,783 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,390 of 20's and 1,225 of 40's loaded while 03 of 20's and 25 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 629 of 20's and 527 of 40's loaded containers while 40 of 20's and 530 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were four ships namely Smiley Lady, GSL Eleni, Express Athens and Nordic Tristan carrying containers and tanker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were five vessels viz. Express Bardsey, Charlotte Schulte, Ginga Cougar, MT Karachi and Almar carrying containers, tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

There are two ships namely Ginga Cougar and San Sebastian carrying tanker and DAP respectively expected to sail on Friday while two more ships namely Express Bardsey, Charlotte Schulte carrying containers are expected to sail on Saturday.

There are two vessels viz. OOCL Chgicago and York carrying containers due to arrive on Friday while three more vessels viz. CSCL Sydney, Sea Ambition and Glovis Maria carrying containers, chemical and petcock respectively are expected to arrive on Saturday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 187,094 tonnes comprising 150,956 tonnes of import cargo and 36,138 tonnes of export cargo including 3,856 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The total import cargo of 150,956 tonnes includes 47,949 tonnes of coal; 34,000 tonnes of diesel oil; 13,281 tonnes of palm oil; 9,000 tonnes of chemical; 9,600 tonnes of soyabean and 37,126 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 36,138 tonnes includes 36,138 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,856 containers comprising of 1,954 containers import and 1,902 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

There are three ships namely Smiley Lady, Gulf Mist and Rong Lin Wan carrying containers, chemical and diesel oil respectively sailed out to sea on Friday afternoon.

A total number of ten ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, rice, soysbean, chemical, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as seven vessels viz. GSL Eleni, Great Vision, Captain Pegglizos, Pedhoulas Cherry, NH Siri, Nordic Tristan and Chemroad Sea carrying containers, coal, soyabean, canola, mogas, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were two ships viz. Great Vision and Nordic Tristan carrying coal and diesel oil respectively expected to take berths at Pakistan International Bulk Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Friday.

There are three ships namely Zhen Hua, Diyala and Safmarine Nyassa carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Saturday.
