Members of Lahore Bar Association on Saturday elected G A Khan Tariq of independent group as president of bar for year 2020-21. Khan secured 3055 votes while his main rival Rana Intizar Hussain of Hamid Khan-led Professional group bagged 2075.
Leaders of the Independent group including Ahsan Bhoon, Azam Nazir Tarar and Abid Saqi congratulated G A Khan on his victory.
The balloting process held on biometric system continued till 5.00 pm. As many as 6104 members exercised their right to vote out of a total of 9996 eligible voters.
On two slots of secretary, Rehan Ahmad Khan and Sultan Hassan Malik were elected by getting 3406 and 3253 votes respectively. Rana Muhammad Naeem and Karam Nizam Rawn were elected as Vice Presidents with 2754 and 2273 votes respectively. On Model Town seat of Vice President, Nadeem Zia Butt was declared winner with 3480 votes against his opponent Rana Kausar, who got 2114 votes. Ali Imran Bhatti was elected as Finance Secretary securing 4464 votes. Mian Usama elected Joint Secretary with 2590 votes while Imran Rafiq was elected as Auditor after securing 3126 votes.
